She adores her two oxymorons (adult children) and enjoys a good game of slobber ball with her dogs. Janie began her writing life as a newspaper reporter in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in English from Shepherd University in West Virginia. She has edited a number of books, including Cleft Heart: Chasing Normal by Karl Schonborn, which was endorsed by Secretary of State John Kerry.
