I was a war baby born in 1940. My parents had very high aspirations and I always felt that I fell short of their expectations because I was quite a tom boy, didn't like ballroom dancing and married at an early age. I think that they had hoped for a feminine lady and they got a rough diamond. They tried to change this by sending me to a private school to learn how to be a lady. I didn't! I have been married twice and now I’m a widow. I adored both husbands, but unfortunately my 1st husband, although a good friend, was a crap family man! My 2nd husband, Davy, was amazing and I miss him every second of every minute of every day. In 1989 we started a hotel reservation business in 1989 which I am still very active in. It is my lifeline to “ordinary” life. But life goes on. Apart from taking an interest in the business, I travel. In 2011 I went on an around the world without flying, starting off on the embankment in London, travelling across land to China then over the North Pacific to Alaska, down through Canada and USA to New York and back on the Queen Mary. It was the experience of a lifetime. Last year I joined my grandson in Australia and we spent six weeks touring in a camper van. We had the best of times! I then went across the South Pacific to San Francisco, joined up with friends and did a road trip from Desert Hot Springs to Seattle. Again, we had a brilliant time. This year I am going to Singapore, taking a cruise to India, Africa, then through Suez Canal to Rome. I’m looking forward to that.
